Kvatrić, also called Kvaternjak, is the everyday name for Trg Eugena Kvaternika and the streets around it, where three districts meet: Maksimir, Lower Town and Upper Town – Medveščak. Maksimirska cesta, Vlaška, Šubićeva, Heinzelova and Ulica Dragutina Domjanića all converge on the square. It was laid out in the late 19th century as Međašni trg, and from 1891 it was the end of the line for Zagreb's first horse-drawn tram, which ran here from Ilica.
The square is lined mostly with four-storey buildings from before the Second World War, and the 1968 Nama department store building stands on its east side. A 2006–08 rebuild added a three-level underground car park and a pedestrian underpass with shops, and flower kiosks stand along the north side. Tržnica Kvatrić, the market that once traded on the square itself, has moved a little further south, to where Martićeva meets Šubićeva.
Kvaternikov trg is a tram junction: several lines cross the square and one starts here, with another stop on Šubićeva by the market. From the bus terminal just south of the square, buses run north to Kozjak and Srebrnjak and south-east to Velika Gorica by way of Zagreb Airport.
Maksimir district, census 2021: 47,356 people, 6.9% of households renting, 21.6% of flats empty. Empty flats by district
