What it's like to live in Jelenovac

Jelenovac is a local council area of the Črnomerec district that climbs north from Ilica onto the wooded slopes of the district's hilly middle belt. It takes in the Jelenovac park-forest, which lies between the Vrhovec park-forest to the west and the Pantovčak park-forest to the east, at roughly 135 to 238 metres above sea level. The Jelenovački potok stream runs through the area, and to the east Jelenovac borders the Upper Town – Medveščak district.

Jelenovac street heads north towards Vrhovec, part of which also falls within this council area, and woodland lines the streets Jelenovac, Šercerova and Kosirnikova. Bus routes from Reljkovićeva ulica to Jelenovac and to Vinogradi run through the area, as does the route from the Kuniščak stop next to Ilica up to Vrhovec. There are stops on Vinogradska, Kosirnikova and Šercerova and on Jelenovac street.

In the south, Vinogradska cesta starts on Ilica. At number 29 is the main site of the Sestre milosrdnice Clinical Hospital Centre, and the address is shared by a midwifery school and the Vinogradska nursing school. Trams run along Ilica below the hospital, while the upper, wooded parts along Jelenovac street are more than a kilometre from the tram line.
