What it's like to live in Sveti Duh

Sveti Duh is an area north of Ilica in the Črnomerec district and, like Bijenik, Lukšići and Mikulići, one of the settlements on the slopes of Medvednica. Its backbone is the street of the same name, which leaves Ilica at the junction with Selska cesta and heads north into the hilly part of the district, crossed by streams. The Sveti Duh tram stop is on Ilica at the foot of the street.

The Sveti Duh Clinical Hospital stands at number 64. The hospital has been running since 1804, when it opened on what is now Ban Jelačić Square, and moved to Sveti Duh in 1931. At number 31 is the Basilica of St Anthony of Padua with its friary of Conventual Franciscans. The church was built between 1931 and 1934 to a design by Juraj Denzler and was given the title of minor basilica in 2022.

The Črnomerec terminus, where the trams end and buses depart, lies to the south-west. From there the bus to Lukšić runs up Sveti Duh street and on along the slopes through Trsje and Bijenik.
